  1. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........He looks a bit stunned or surprised. He was obviously not expecting a photo to be taken. Call me old fashioned, but I would like to have seen the rest of his face. No offence Robert. Maybe that look is one of excitement because it is a special shopping trip for him. The background is not giving me any sense of what sort of shopping trip it is. His eyes are not looking straight into the lens, so something must have attracted his attention to your right. Did he spot his purchase?

  2. Keep practicing, as you don't have any catch lights in the eyes ;-)
Don't you carry a reflector when you go shopping?

  3. Ah, this I like. In a series about stores or shopping this one would stand out. I can see that it also might be a model for other similar shots (for example with different brands or products in the background). Very interesting.

  4. It's not necessarlily that I would like to see the rest of his face, but I don't think it should have been cut off by the picture edge. I think it would work better if it was hidden behind something that was also in the frame, like a counter or something. I just don't doing the purpose of doing it like that.

Colin: How do you relate that shot to a supermarked other than the title? I don't really see it.

Irena: YOU don't carry the reflector around, your ASSISTANT does.
    Robert: Fire your assistant.

  5. Kjell - Well, it *could* be somewhere else, but wide, well lit aisle with brightly coloured things to each side....give me some alternatives :-)

Partly my reference to this being in a series reflected the mild ambiguity here. Context needed to be provided by a grouping of shots. It needn't be a big series. Maybe a triptych would do.

  6. Colin: It's not really that important, but when the background is that blurry it could be anything.
And yes, I was reading it a bit too fast. In the context of a series, it would of course be obvious.

  7. I'm with Colin in this instance: this I like. I like it a lot, actually, *especially* that we get just part of the face. Wonderfully arranged, the depth of field adds some ambiguity, and those eyes.
