a swan

Filed under: All Pictures — Kjell @ 07:09:05 am

I've been playing with this shot for two years now, never really satisfied with the result. I find it very difficult to get the tonality and colors right. So when LightRoom 2 came, I gave it another try, and this time I'm closing in on something. I still have to work a little more on some details, but I think I'm getting there. I think this version may be a bit oversharpened, but my eyes are a bit tired right now so I don't really see it.

  1. I think you should be satisfied now. The blues and browns work well off of each other and the orange of the beak is a welcome colour change.
The vigentte while not distracting up close to the picture it does become more so at distance as its transition is very strong.
I really must need a coffee, those pebbles look like coffee beans.

  2. I don't mind the vignette on top and didn't really notice it that much, maybe because the main focus for me is the swan. There is one little white spot on the left of the beak that I'm curious about as to what it is. The colours are great and a lovely image Kjell.
Two years is a long time to be working on it, I end up deleting most of mine after two years.

  3. Was this shot with a split neutral density filter? I like the shot. The sky color seems filtered by polarizer, maybe?

  4. Irena:
The white spot is just a fragment of a feather. It became much more visible on the web version than on print.

    Eric:
No filter at all, just LightRoom magic.
