Anyone recognize it?

  1. I recognise this as a jail but that is it. The repeated bands of light taking us further into the picture work well. I'm wondering now what type of place this is since that looks like some dried flowers in the foreground and on the left wall a chalked heart on the wall. I'd like to see more of this place.

  2. I like the colours, I like the tilt and low angle. I like the way your eyes a drawn to the door in the distance.
Not sure where it is but it needs a clean ;-).

  3. This photo is from Dachau concentration camp, which is just outside of Munich. Pictured is the infamous "barracks" where a lot of human suffering occurred. The dried flowers in the foreground were presumably left by thoughtful visitors. I had a real disconnect with the bucolic Munich nearby and my day at Dachau, which was sober and reflective.

I took a lot of photos at Dachau, but I'm sort of hesitant to throw them up on my blog like just so many other photos. Instead I'll probably make a Flickr set with the selects from that day.

That's an interesting comment that suggests that you don't think of your blog as a valuable home for your photos.

Hadn't thought about it that way. What I meant was that photographs of a concentration camp have a rather different tone than a lot of other images that I show on my blog, many of which are lighthearted. I thought that they maybe should merit a special set might be warranted to prevent a rather incongruous mixing. I would certainly separate them from the more lighthearted work if I were making a print exhibit of my work, so it seemed logical that I would do it on the web as well.
