Another one where I think the DY is a major player. It really leads my eyes down that road, wondering what is beyond the trees. Too bad with the yellow reflex west in the back of that red car. It kind of breaks with the muted colors in these pictures without adding too much to this particular scene (in my own humble opinion, that is)
the red of the car and the vest do attract your attention a little but I do not feel that the other colours are muted, this looks mid morning on an overcast day (for Australia anyway) and thankfully not hyper coloured. The red car and bin in the foreground feel like a good balance as does the white building and sky. That sliver of light through the trees that reminds me of lightning takes me to that bin way back there, funny I got there via that space rather than following the yellow lines. Intentional or just me? who knows.
The colours in Colin's pictures always feel very real
I kind of agree on what you say about the colors in Colins pictures, that they are mostly very real. My own statement about muted colors still stand, but I think I was a but unclear. By muted I didn't actually mean unsaturated, which it is obviously not (just look at the trees). I think Colins pictures, both BW and color, have a very distinct look to them. When many others picture the world like it was rubbed with oil and mega-pop, Colins world is covered with a thin layer of dust, like the real world often is. The yellow west that I mentioned is no less true in color than the rest of the picture, it is just that after seeing a lot of Colins pictures, it didn't quite belong in that world.
The yellow vest doesn't really bother me, what bothers me is how the cars a parked ;-) they're at a funny angle. I'm really enjoying this DY series, you must a few images now. I must do a series of my own soon.

You say the kindest things :-)
Robert - one of the things that interested me in this picture is how the yellow lines don't dominate. There are other lead-ins and lines for the eye which would sound less important in a verbal description but which hold their own against the lines.
But seriously, I'm starting to recognize your shots from miles away now. The "covered with dust" description was just an attempt to describe how I perceive the look of your shots. And I don't think it is that far from the truth either. If you run your fingers over almost any outdoor surface that is not wet, you will get dirty, and that will desaturate most colors to a certain degree. I have too been to places similar to the ones you photograph, and they are not looking like a lot of "pop", but rather ... well muted in color. I think you do your subject real justice.
